How does Tenths know I’m driving?
Your iPhone’s motion chip and location changes wake Tenths when you start moving. It turns on GPS only to confirm the drive and record the route, then stops once you’ve been parked longer than Merge short stops (Settings › Tracking).
To log drives while the app is closed, set location to Always and turn on Motion & Fitness (Settings › Tracking › Location access).
A drive was missed or split in two
Check that location is set to Always and Precise Location is on. Low Power Mode can delay detection.
From Tenths 1.0.2, Settings › Tracking › Detection diary shows what Tenths saw and decided around that time (times, speeds and distances, never places). Add a note about the drive there, then send the diary to us so we can find the cause.
Add a missed drive with + on the Drives tab. To join a drive that a long stop split in two, open the second part and choose More actions › Merge with previous drive.
How is my deduction calculated?
Each business drive is multiplied by the IRS standard mileage rate for its date: 72.5¢ a mile from January 1 to June 30, 2026, and 76¢ from July 1, 2026.
Tenths doesn’t give tax advice. Talk to a tax professional about your situation.
My employer pays me back for mileage
From version 1.0.2: in Settings › Money, set Your miles to Reimbursed by work (or Both, if you also drive for work of your own), and enter your employer’s rate if it isn’t the IRS rate. Home then shows what you’re owed since your last claim. Set your normal commute and Tenths leaves it out of each workday’s first drive from home and last drive home. Reports › Reimbursement request makes a PDF for any pay period, with every trip, your receipts and lines to sign, plus a spreadsheet (Tenths Pro). Choose your pay period in Settings › Money for a reminder when each one ends.
In version 1.0, set your employer’s rate in Settings › Mileage rate, and choose Not yet reported when you export, so each report has only what’s new.
Getting my log out
On the Reports tab, export a PDF log or a CSV for any month, quarter or year (Tenths Pro). Settings › Your data › Export everything saves a full backup at any time, free.
Switching from another mileage app
Export your drives as a CSV from the old app, then open the file with Tenths, or use Settings › Your data › Import from another app. You’ll see a preview before anything is imported.
Step-by-step for people coming from MileIQ or QuickBooks Self-Employed.
Subscriptions and purchases
Bought Pro on another device or reinstalled the app? Open Tenths Pro and tap Restore purchases.
To cancel or change a subscription, open the iPhone Settings app › your name › Subscriptions › Tenths Pro. Apple handles billing, so we can’t see or change your payment details.
Your price is locked. If Tenths Pro ever costs more, your subscription keeps renewing at the price you have for as long as it stays active. If it lapses and you subscribe again later, the price at that time applies. Lifetime is paid once.
Deleting your data
Settings › Your data › Delete everything removes every drive, place and vehicle from your iPhone, and from your private iCloud if sync is on. Deleting the app also removes its data from your iPhone.
